Day Trip from Catanzaro: Tropea
Few places in the world are as dramatic as Tropea, whose coast stretches along the Tyrrhenian sea between the Gulfs of Sant’ Eufemia and Gioia Tauro. Hands-down the most-touristy Calabrian city, this one-time sleepy village has transformed itself into a tourist attraction, where visitors will find warm green seas and friendly faces.
Tropea’s turquoise green waters are as bright as Easter egg dye and are contrasted by the simplicity of this 16th Century town’s historical buildings and medieval churches.
Although most day-trippers head to Tropea to visit the Marina del Convento and San Leonardo beaches, the town is also noted for its sweet red onions, table grapes and the iconic Santa Maria dell’Isola Church.
It is approximately 90 minutes from Il Cedro Bed and Breakfast to Tropea.
